Witches Brew Naturalist Club

Live Acoustic Guitar and Community Nature Story-Share. Bring your stories!

“We’ve had 2 Witches Brews so far – the last sunday of February as well as this morning, Sunday 3/29 at the Quechee Library from 10-11:30am. We’ll generally be there after-hours (library is closed on Sundays) and down in the basement gathering space, using the backdoor entrance only. Please note there will be no bathroom available at the venue due to the present after-hours formatting. Access the back door off Willard Road, next to the book return drop off, and head downstairs to find us.

Getting together in the basement of a closed library is definitely the witchiest option available, and so naturally we’re looking forward to seeing you down in those depths to alternate between listening to live acoustic guitar music and sharing stories from our recent encounters in local nature. Birders, wildlife trackers, fisherpeople, astronomers, fungi people, and so on are invited to bring and relive the fervor and excitement that came over you when you encountered the unexpected while adventuring in our local landscapes.

Witches Brew starts slow (just around 60 beats per minute), and moves into two faster phases of music punctuated by our story telling sessions. Newcomers are especially encouraged to share a recent nature experience – an orb-shaped kingfisher tipping a thin branch extended over a favorite stream at sunrise, migrating amphibians you may have encountered this recent Thursday at the first real Big Night of the season, or (a few months away) a giant mushroom that you got photos of but couldn’t identify.

Witches Brew is a bit of a naturalist club, so if you’re looking to learn more about local ecology or walking groups or birding hotspots you’re invited to bring your curiosity as well. Send a note to HartfordSalamanderTeam (at) Gmail.com to join the email list!”
